disease. Affiliated with the Pennsylvania College of Optometry,
the program is based in Havre de Grace, Maryland.

Description
of Program
Full scope eye care with emphasis on secondary and tertiary
eye care. Direct patient care with emphasis on treatment
and management of ocular disease in a high-volume pathology
practice.
- The
program consists of independent and supervised interaction
by optometry and ophthalmology to provide independent
thinking in therapeutic management and co-management
of a vast variety of ocular disease conditions.
- The
program will provide a flexible experience tailored
to the resident's areas of interest and needs.
Educational
Opportunities
Clinical
Patient care with retinal specialist, glaucoma specialist,
pediatric/strabismus specialist, cataract and refractive
surgical specialist. Also fluorescein angiography, anterior
segment and retinal photography, perimetry and observation
of a variety of surgical procedures of the anterior
and posterior segments of the eye.
Didactic
Lectures and conferences that may be attended include:
Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland, Baltimore
VAMC, Pennsylvania College of Optometry and Seidenberg
Protzko Eye Associates.
Teaching
Responsibilities for ResidentLimited amount of direct supervision
on students; resident will have contact with students
and will give presentations and lectures.
Research
Responsibilities
Seidenberg Protzko Eye Associates is a national research
center for glaucoma, dry eye, allergy and ocular infection.
The resident will participate in these studies throughout
the year.
The resident will prepare a research project/paper on
publishable quality and will present at the grand rounds
of the Eye Institute of The Pennsylvania College of
Optometry.
