What is Ultherapy®?

How Does Ultherapy® Work?

Ultherapy® uses ultrasound to stimulate the production of collagen, a substance that our bodies produce naturally.  As we age, collagen production declines, and our skin loses the elasticity and “plumpness” we had when we were younger.  Ultherapy® supplies energy to the deeper skin layers, so that as skin cells are shed, the new layers reveal firmer, younger-looking skin.   Ultrasound images provide a visual guide for practitioners, so they can see the layers of tissue during the procedure.  Treatment can then be targeted to the places that need it – the practitioner can see where the collagen production is needed and direct the energy there. What is Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® is a safe, non-surgical ultrasound treatment that uses the body’s regenerative response gently lifting skin on the brow, chin, and neck.  It also smooths lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.

What is special about Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® is the ONLY non-invasive treatment cleared by the FDA to lift skin. Ultherapy® also utilizes ultrasound imaging allowing your nurse or doctor to see the layers of tissue during treatment so that the energy is deposited in the areas to provide optimal results.

Does Ultherapy® differ from laser?
Ultherapy® uses ultrasound which penetrates beneath the surface of the skin to treat depths beyond the capability of other on-invasive devices.  This treatment stimulates collagen production in the skin’s foundation for a significant lift of tissue over two-three months.

Lasers treat the top layers of the skin and are not FDA-cleared to lift skin.

How long does an Ultherapy® treatment take?
The length of the treatment will depend on the size of the area being treated.  Typically a face and neck treatment is sixty-ninety minutes, and a chest procedures take about thirty minutes.

Is there no downtime?
With Ultherapy®, there is no downtime. After your treatment, you can resume your normal activities.

What will I feel during my treatment?
You will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated. The sensation only lasts while the ultrasound energy is being delivered.

How long before I see results?
Immediately following your Ultherapy® treatment, you may see some effect; however, the comprehensive results of your treatment will transpire over the course of two-three months.  Results will vary between individuals based on your collagen production.

What are the side effects?
Your skin may develop a slight flush immediately after treatment but will normally disappear in a couple of hours. Some patients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are temporary. Other, less common post-procedural effects may include temporary bruising or numbness on small areas of skin. Am I a good candidate for Ultherapy®?
